Where To Find A Sarasota Beachfront Home
Are you looking for a great beach? Sarasota is home to some of the nicest beachfront homes in Florida. This fabulous beach town is located on the west coast of the sunshine state and about an hour south of Tampa. It is only about 2 hours from Mickey Mouse land and 2 hours from Naples. People from Canada, Europe and the northern states come to Sarasota to enjoy the pretty beaches, great people, fun activities and sunny weather.
There are a variety of great places to live and own in Sarasota. You no longer have to spend $300,000 to find yourself a fabulous home. With the recent collapse in real estate prices everything is much more affordable. Florida is a bargain again. Many areas of Sarasota are back to 1999-2001 pricing.
Sarasota Beachfront Homes
Sarasota, Florida offers 35 miles of fabulous beaches. Condominiums are found on most of the beaches because of the economics. A developer will make more money building 100 condos versus one single family home. Regardless, you can still find a great home on the beach as not all beachfront land is zoned for condos.
There are not as many places to find a Sarasota beachfront home as you might think. There are primarily 4 barrier islands – Longboat Key, Casey Key, Lido Key and Siesta Key. With all of these locations expect to pay at least $1,500,000 for a home on the beach. If you want a really nice home then you will need to spend more.
Lido Key
This is the small barrier island just west of downtown Sarasota, south of Longboat Key and north of Siesta Key. Most of the beachfront is made up of condos. However, on the north end of the island there are some single family homes on the beach. There are a handful of homes just off North Polk and near St. Armands Circle are on the beach. Lido Shores on the north end of the island offers some of the nicest Sarasota beachfront homes.
Siesta Key
The beach here is simply amazing. Siesta Key beach consistently ranks as one of the best in the world. This is a fabulous place to own a single family home on the beach.
Siesta Key is an 8 mile long barrier island with plenty of beachfront. On the north end of the island you will find a variety of homes off Higel Avenue that overlook Big Pass and Lido Key. These homes have a small private beach. On the south end of the island you will find the exclusive and gated Sanderling Club. These beachfront lots are very large and are home to some of the nicest waterfront homes in the Sarasota. Turtle Beach on the very south end has a handful of homes on it.
Longboat Key
This 11 mile long barrier island offers a variety of real estate. You will find condos on most of the beach however there are several spots where you can buy a single family home. On the south end behind the gates of the Longboat Key Club there are several large mansions on the beach. At the middle of the island and towards the north end on Gulfside Road there are many other options to own a home on the beach. You can find anything from a small shack worth just over $1,000,000 all of the way to a home worth over $10,000,000.
Casey Key
Wow, the homes here are amazing. If you are picky then you need to explore Casey Key as it has the highest concentration of homes on the beach. This is a long island with essentially no condos. Located just south of Siesta Key and off of Nokomis many people don’t want to get this far off the beaten path. However, many go to Casey Key for the peace and quiet that the other barrier islands don’t offer.
