How often do you visit the attractions of your own city? For many of us, we may have actually visited fewer of them then the tourists do. Or perhaps you have seen everything, but a lot of time has passed since then.
What are your plans for the kids’ summer break? Visiting the local attractions can be a fun excursion, and if you know it is likely to be crowded with tourists on weekends, you can use the summer break to go.
Being a local at a tourist attraction has its’ advantages. You likely know the best way to get there and may know other tricks to get in and out. If a particular line is exceptionally crowed, you always have the option of going back another day!
Unlike traveling tourists, you can save money on food and beverages. For example, water parks tend to get crowded at lunch time and the food can be expensive. Why not go in the morning, then save money by taking the kids home for lunch?
You may also consider having your hand stamped at all-day excursions, such as the zoo, so that you can leave for lunch and come back. You may even want to pack a picnic lunch and bring it along! Just be sure not to let food sit out in the sun!
Most attractions offer a pass that will allow you unlimited visits during a certain season, most often summer. If you have favorite attractions, or ones that can be tiring to do all in one day, consider a seasonal pass. This will pay for itself in about three visits, not even counting all the money you’ll save on food by being able to feed the kids lunch at home!

Do you always dread having to book a family vacation? All the arguments about who wants to go where and who wants to do this and that, trying to please everybody is hard and can be a real chore; but it does not always have to be that way though! We all have a different idea of what makes a family vacation perfect, it would be a sad place if everybody liked the same things don’t you think?
As long as you can relax and have some fun, whilst having plenty to occupy yourselves, you should be okay; this is where the United States comes in! There are plenty of great resorts in the United States to suit everybody’s taste.
As we all know, no matter what the vacation comprises of, one thing is for sure, it has to be affordable, so here are a few great tips towards a great vacation:-
One idea is to go on a camping vacation, this can be inexpensive if it is done correctly, and you do not always need to buy expensive camping equipment!
There are lots of almost free campsites available at the many National Parks around the United States; they also allow you the opportunity to fend for yourselves.
You could even turn the vacation into a Nature study, try studying edible plants and attempt to locate them around your campsite; you could also try to make your own place to sleep from the natural products around you, instead of opting for traditional tents.
Learn about the early pioneers of America, and try to survive as they had to in the wild, you could have fun and learn at the same time.

There may be a lot of tourist destinations and activities in your city that you know droves of people come to see, but it must have been a while since you’ve experienced them yourself. Water parks are always popular among common folk. Since they do tend to fill up around noon, you may want to go when the park first opens. If you want to save money, you can have a quick bite to eat at home before heading out.
Going to the zoo, on the other hand, is definitely an all day event. To hold you off during the day, bring a picnic lunch. If the guards don’t allow you to bring in the food, simply get a hand stamp and have a feast in a comfortable place. Once you’re done, just show you’re stamp to get back into the zoo.
You may want to consider getting a season pass too. Most of the time, you get your money’s worth in three visits to the park. And on days that you don’t feel like staying in the park all day, break your trip into 2-3 hour chunks and just keep coming back.
To prepare in advance, you may want to pick up some free brochures at your local visitor’s center. There you might see trips and excursions that you may not have tried yet. The staff at the visitor’s center usually has free or discounted passes to give out, so that may be worth checking out as well.
