Across highways in America you see them. Dozens of cars, filled with families and friends going on road trips. While the United States is obviously not the only place one can undertake road trips, it is still largely a uniquely American experience.
Unlike our counterparts across the pond, we have land, vast amounts of it. We have states bigger than many European countries. In Europe, cities and countries are not so far apart and can be reached fairly easily. In America, it can take a whole a day off hard driving to reach a destination, thus creating a car traveling culture.
Europe has also wisely invested in mass transportation. With so little land to build on, and so many locations near each other, they realized early on that they were well situated for a good mass transit system. America is so spread out, the cost of building railways and subways everywhere would have been staggering.
The automobile stands as a uniquely American invention as well. Yes, the rest of the world has them, but the automobile was created here and has come to represent the freedom and liberty that America stands for. The idea that we can just take off and go explore the world without being tied to home all the time is one that is very America. Nearly everyone has gone on road trips. The time spent with friends and families in the car have produced many great times and memories for everyone. Truck stops and fast food offer the travelers delight. Heavily caffeinated drinks like coffee, energy drinks or sodas are consumed in high numbers. Junk food like, cookies, nuts, trail mix and pastries are mandatory. For dinner, hit the fast food joints for burgers, hot dogs, tacos or whatever is your pleasure. Don’t forget to stop get a milkshake or ice cream cone along the way. Dairy Queen is perennial favorite in the South and McDonalds is always available, but there are plenty of other places to satisfy your craving. Of course, there is always the one person who has to stop to go to the bathroom all the time.
Yes, road trip, we salute you and all the fond memories you bring. Now it’s time to stop and stretch our legs.

Dog Friendly Rentals

The majority of people really love their pets, to the point where they become part of the family. Some pet owners cannot stand to be parted from their pets for more than a day or so and for these people, going on vacation can be a problem, because they do not want to leave their friends behind. Obviously the answer is to take your cat or dog with you. Dogs are easier to take away than cats, because they are more well-trained
If you are only going for a couple of days, say on business, finding a hotel near to the place of your meeting should not be too much of a problem, unless you want to stay at one of the big names in the city centre. It is often the smaller, family-run hotels or guest houses that allow pets, although some want you to keep your dog in a kennel on the premises overnight. larger hotels tend not to be very pet-friendly.
If you propose taking your pet with you, it is better if you make this clear when you make your booking as more hotels do not permit pets than do allow them. Normally there is no extra charge for a pet, but you are liable for any extra cleaning costs, should your pet get caught short.
If you are going away on holiday or for a longer period of time, it is sometimes a lot easier to find a holiday rental that will allow you to take your cat or dog with you. Again, it is best to make it obvious at booking that you want to take your dog with you. Luckily, there are about fifty percent of rentals or more that will allow this, although once again, you will be held responsible for any damage or mess made by your dog.
A tip: if on getting there, you see that previous pets have caused some damage or stains, take photographs on your first day and have them dated. Modern cameras often have the facility to date stamp photos or you can use a newspaper. Otherwise, point out the damage to your host.
When you travel with your dog, it is best to put the animal in some sort of a cage particularly when driving. A loving dog can be a diversion in a car. If it wants attention just when you are trying to perform a complicated manouevre, it can cause an accident. Some dogs get very frightened in cars and want to sit on their owner’s lap, this is also not a good idea and could lead to a charge of dangerous driving. Additionally, if your dog is not caged and you have an accident, it could be thrown through the windscreen. If you are travelling by air, then the airline will insist on a cage, but they usually have their own.
Once you arrive at your pet-friendly rental, give your dog some of his normal food to eat, lay out his blanket from home, and put out one of his favourite toys, just to help make him feel at home. After all, everything will be strange to him and he might be able to smell the previous furry tenant. If cleaning staff will be entering your rental during your holiday, make sure that you are there at least for the first few times they visit.

A List Of The Most Memorable Meals I Have Ever Eaten

Over the past three years, I have attempted to eat at every restaurant in New York that I possibly can. While I may regret some of the meals and wish I could have some of that money back, there are a handful of meals that are the best I’ve ever had and don’t’ regret for a second.
While it hurts me to think about how much money I have spent on food living in New York, some of the meals I have had will stay with me forever.
Gotham was my first experience with fine dining. This restaurant has been a New York staple for over 25 years and with good reason. From the food to the dcor to the service, everything is impeccable and makes for a memorable experience.
Sushi Yasuda, is simply put, the best sushi in New York. I have been to Gari, I have been to Ushiwakamaru, and the other greats (with the exception of Masa and Kuruma Zushi), and I maintain that there is no place like Yasuda. In fact, I have made it a tradition on my birthday to go there for lunch with my mom.
Farm to table dining has been a big hit in New York recently. New Yorkers demand the freshest produce and it when it comes to farm-to-table dining, look no further than Blue Hill at Stone Barns. It is located on a farm outside of the city and one of the best dishes I’ve ever had was “this morning’s farm fresh egg.”
The best meal I have ever had belongs to Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin. Chef Ripert is a seafood genius and every course here was impeccable. I can confidently say that the Langoustine dish here was the best bite of food I have ever had.
But what will be my favorite meal three weeks from now? I only question this because I am going to Per Se. I had to make this reservation over 2 months ago and have been anticipating this meal ever since. A lot of hype to live up to, but I am confident that Thomas Keller’s staff will not let me down.
Finally, Il Mulino is the mecca of Italian dining. It is heavy and bountiful, and you won’t eat for days, but it is an incredible experience.

New York City has some pretty amazing shopping for both men and women. While it is most definitely an expensive activity, shopping in New York is great because you get to see the sights while ducking in to your favorite stores.
Here are some of the best areas to check out while shopping in New York.
The Meatpacking District is one of the hottest areas in the City right now. Alexander McQueen and the Theory Headquarters are both located here. The newly constructed highline product spans over the area and makes for a great scenic view as well.
An always-popular place to go shopping in New York City is SoHo. Prince Street and Spring Street get way too crowded during the weekend, so stray off the beaten path by walking down other streets like West Broadway or Thompson Street.
Another fun area to check out for shopping is the East Village. Some of the best stores to check out around this part of town include Urban Outfitters, Odin and Pinky Otto.
Of course, an extremely popular area to shop is 5th Avenue and the Upper East Side in general. Be careful though, because everything uptown just ends up costing more money. Bloomingdale’s on 57th has sales a few times a year, so go while your favorite brands are sold on sale.
Another area that is notorious for high end shopping, but is located on Long Island is the Americana Shopping Center in Manhasset. Also known as the “miracle mile,” this outdoor strip of luxury retailers is hard to beat.

The Virgin Islands And What To See When You Are Going

When planning a trip to the United States Virgin Islands, one stop that must be on your list is St. Thomas. Whether you are going with family, friends, on a romantic getaway or by yourself, St. Thomas has something for everyone.
If you are an avid golfer, then the golf course at Mahogany Run should be on your list of things to do. It is a wonderful 18-hole course located on the north side of the island.
The best beach on St. Thomas is Magen’s Bay. Peaceful with crystal clear water, this beach is where the locals go and with good reason. It is synonymous with relaxation.
If you leave Magens’ Bay and find yourself with a sweet tooth, look no further than Udder Delight. This world famous milk shake shop is located at the top of the hill right outside of Magen’s Bay.
After trying every restaurant on the island, I can safely say that Thirteen takes the prize. Thirteen is located in the hills and is tough to find, so your best bet is to take a cab there.
No trip to St Thomas would be complete without, ironically enough, leaving the island.
You must leave St Thomas while visiting St Thomas and go to St John. There is a ferry that leaves about every hour and it is a quick boat ride to St Thomas’ sister island. The beaches here, including Trunk Bay, are even more beautiful than the beaches on St Thomas.
Another great way to leave the island is to rent a boat for the day. You can go sailing around the islands and stop at islands like Tortola and Jost Van Dyke.

Landscape architecture plays an important function in the development of all contemporary cities. There have been landscape gardeners working on the gardens and palaces of rich Thais for centuries, only like in each other country with a wealthier ruling class.
Two of Thailand’s most famous landscape architects are Somwang Leevanjikul and Chanvudhi Varavam, both of whom have been concerned in large government projects in Thailand using their skills in landscape architecture to create Thailand’s cities and countryside a better searching place to live.
