Vacationing with children can be a challenge to the parents as well as the child unless you make the experience a pleasant one. No matter which type of traveling you are doing, by plane, car or cruise, their safety and comfort is of prime importance.

One of the great tips when traveling with children is to see that items that they need during travel are readily at hand. Childrens luggage is a great tool for active participation from the child that gives her or him a sense of responsibility and a measure of control over their own things. Pack the kids suitcases with items that they can get themselves when they need it, or at the very least, you can get child’s items from their own suitcase instead of having to dig through your own to find the right thing.

Make it fun when you go shopping for your childrens luggage. There are a variety of colors, decorations and sizes available. Different styles will provide a variety of zippered compartments and pouches. There are kids rolling luggage, which may be the better choice if you are traveling by air. Let each child bring her or his own carry-on onto the plane and packed with items they may need for their comfort and entertainment for the duration of the flight. Make certain, however, that any kids rolling luggage you may purchase will fit beneath the seat in front of your child. Remember, you want your child to be able to reach their own items during the flight and not require an adult to get their luggage from the overhead compartment.

Make it easy on yourself when sight checking the family luggage by having personalized kids luggage for the kids. Their names emblazoned on their own luggage makes it easy to spot and avoids mix ups with other luggage. And if your kids don’t want a suitcase, or it’s bigger than they need, you can always get personalized kids backpacks. Easy to keep an eye on them, and a smaller number of things for your children to carry.

How to Choose Good Kids Suitcases

You want your childrens luggage to last awhile and still serve your child’s needs. Make sure that any piece you buy has a handle or strap that will fit the size of your childrens hands, and if you have purchased kids rolling luggage, see that it is easy for the child to maneuver. All kids suitcases should be lightweight so that when it is packed your child can lift, carry or roll it comfortably. Durability is another important consideration. Look for quality construction and strong stitching around exterior pockets, pouches and compartments. The last thing you want is for an external pouch to break open and your child loses whatever was in that pouch.

Depending on the needs of the child during your vacation, you might want a large inside compartment for storing clothes, shoes and other necessities, and smaller, external pockets for the items your child might need for comfort and entertainment during active travel. The easier the accessibility to these items during travel, the happier and more content your child will be. If you do purchase kids rolling luggage, be sure to avoid any with cheap plastic wheels. If they break, guess who is going to end up carrying that luggage?

What Goes Into Kids Suitcases

Think comfort, necessities and entertainment! Depending on the length of time for your trip and any restrictions you may encounter, you’ll want to pack those items your child can use for herself or himself during the trip. Comfort and necessity items might include medication, tissue, a sweater, slippers, a change of underwear. Unrefrigerated snacks might be appropriate, water or juice boxes if allowed. Be sure to keep them entertained with their favorite books, games, mp3 player with their favorite music, and other fun diversions. And while you’re at it, include a plastic grocery bag for trash, so you can keep your traveling area neat. You might also want to keep a supply of wet wipes available to clean fingers, faces and accidents, which can then be tossed in the plastic bag for disposal.

The goal is to have a great family experience together. The active travel part of any vacation or planned trip can be stressful or it can be smooth. Bringing familiar items along on the trip will help your children adjust to new surroundings. Allowing them to actively participate by having some control over their things will make the family experience an enjoyable and memorable one.

The Lauder clan has been vacationing with their kids and grandkids for three decades. Kids suitcases these days have become more fun and practical than ever. We highly recommend these childrens luggage resources.

The UK has a vibrant holiday scene and every year thousands of people enjoy spending time away on self catering holidays and short break. The choice of accommodation can make or break your holiday and that is why making sure you choose the right one is one of the keys to ensuring your holiday is a success. The log cabin holidays are one of the leading choices when it comes to a self catering break and within this article you will find out why this is the case.

Enjoying some time away whether it is with your friends, family or just the two of you is incredibly important and it is highly recommended that every year you get away at least once for some time away. The log cabins provide you with a range of options when it comes to location and whether you want to stay in beautiful countryside areas, superb coastal resorts or a lake or riverside getaway you will find a log cabin holiday close by. The beauty of having park locations in many areas is you will always find a park nearby to where you are looking to go on holiday.

The log cabin accommodation is always very well presented to ensure you have a comfortable and well equipped stay. As soon as you arrive you will feel in the holiday mood as you marvel at the relaxed setting and take in the stunning natural beauty of the log cabin park location. The accommodation may be rustic by appearance on the outside but as soon as you open the doors you will be treated to a contemporary and modern interior that leaves nothing out that you will need for your stay.

If you really want to have a holiday with a difference then the facilities that are available on the log cabin parks are what makes them so much better than any other equivalent self catering option. It would be no good have facilities that are not within keeping of the style of holiday, and that is why the careful consideration that the parks have made is to include only sports and leisure activities that match the ambience of the log cabin parks. Some of the main leisure activities you may well enjoy while you are away include swimming, health and beauty treatments and massages.

If you want to enjoy a special holiday away in stunning locations and somewhere that gives you more than the traditional self catering breaks then the log cabin holidays should have careful consideration. You have so much flexibility on not only the locations, the style of the park and the facilities you have available to you, but you can also decide whether you would like to take a short break or a week or more away.

Want to find out more about Log Cabin Holidays, then visit Mark Roberts’s site and choose from a big choice of Log Cabin Breaks that are ideal for everyone.

San Francisco Giants Major League Baseball team (AT&T Park), Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the San Francisco Zoo have long been family favorites when visiting the “City By The Bay”. Animal shows, petting zoos, and a beautiful ferry ride – a day at Marine World/Africa USA will perhaps be one of those that stays with you and your family forever.

San Francisco can be a somewhat daunting vacation experience. Difficult traffic and parking, unpredictable weather, and large crowds. But with these few vacation tips, visiting San Francisco can also provide for a unique and exciting twist to a traditional visit to this glorious city. Truth be told, the sites and venues that make San Francisco unique should also be included on your list of “things to do”. But if you’re looking for something with a slight twist or to fill one of those rainy San Francisco afternoons, try one of the above attractions. You’ll be sure to have a wonderful time with your whole family.

Louisiana is called the “Festival State” by many people in the United States. Festivals are a year round occurrence here in Louisiana but spring offers the biggest selection. We always have something to celebrate down here in bayou country so if you like a good party this is where it is happening. The Audubon Zoo plays host to quite a few festivals themselves. Soul Fest was held on the Zoo grounds last weekend. A colorful celebration of African-American culture, New Orleans Creole cuisine and soul food mixed with R&B and hip hop kicked off a round of happenings at NOLA’s own “animal house”, the Audubon Zoo.

In my child accompanied travels across the country I have been to my fair share of Zoo’s and believe me when I say Audubon Zoo out classes them all. Not only is the Zoo itself beautifully done but it definitely does its part to promote Louisiana. There is plenty of natural habit for the animals. There are also lots of grassy and shaded areas for people to enjoy. The Zoo and its events offer a wonderful experience to all who visit. There are things for people of all ages to do and enjoy.

Trailing after Soul Fest are several others including Earth Fest, Asian Pacific American Society and then immediately after those are the popular fund raisers for the Audubon Society, the Whitney Zoo To Do and Zoo To Do for Kids sponsored by Humana. These fundraisers will help The Audubon Institute underwrite a new attraction for our favorite Zoo called Cool Zoo, an animal themed splash park designed especially with the kiddos in mind. With the hot Louisiana summer getting closer by the minute this is welcome news. Cool Stuff!

A jumping water spouts, a huge alligator (we are in Louisiana after all) water slide, a spider monkey soaker and water spitting snakes are just a few of the highlights coming to New Orleans. Right at the Zoo will be a new wet and wild splash park called the Cool Zoo. The splash park will offer three different splash zones. One will be specifically for toddlers and younger zoo goers. Pack that extra change of clothes or at least put a swimsuit and towel in the bag before you head out for some wet and wild fun.

In addition to all the custom animal features in the new Cool Zoo, there will be animal sounds in the “Sound Spray” area. When the water sprays you hear matching animal sounds like croaks, bleats, roars or squawks. This is something that children really enjoy. It gives them a feeling of being in the “wild”. The Caterpillar sprayer is designed to look like a monarch butterfly and the giant alligator’s tail is the waterslide! This new hot spot will be located between the Endangered Species Carousel and the Embraceable Zoo. Construction should begin soon. So get ready for some Cool Zoo fun.

Another exciting new attraction for the Big Easy set to open this summer is Parakeet Pointe. Located at the Aquarium of the Americas, this drawing card will be an 800 square foot tropical environment and home to more than 1,000 free flying parakeets! For an even closer encounter, purchase a feed stick for a dollar and feed the bright beautiful little birds. These guys are all naturally curious and playful. The kids and you kid-like adults will love it! There is always something going on in the Crescent City, old and new. This summer seems to be no exception. So pack the bags, grab the kids and get on over here. New Orleans is waiting. By Sharon Denise Talbot.

Merida is an ancient colonial city and the capital of the Yucatan state located to the west of Quintana Roo, abundant with historical churches, architecturally unique buildings, delicious flavors, music, night life, shopping and more. Each night, the Historic Center hosts traditional folk dancers, right in front of City Hall, dancing to live music, in traditional dress. On Sunday nights, salsa and cumbia dance liven up the streets. Restaurants and street vendors are plentiful, as is the shopping. Staying near the Main Square is recommended.

My wife and I had the joy of staying at Casa Mexilio, a great Merida hotel, over the first weekend in August, 2009, and it was one of the most distinctive places we have ever stayed. Located near the town center, nearly 4 blocks from the main square, you will locate Casa Mexilio hidden amongst residences and businesses along one of the commonly urban sections of Merida. All of the buildings in this segment of town have no spaces between them and the only way to quickly differentiate where one ends and the next one begins is the distinction in paint. Each block is consequently rich in unique colors and personal discernible window boxes, signs, benches, and the like.

The main entrance to Casa Mexilio is relatively non-descript, with a few iron gates fronting wooden doors right on the street. Don’t be fooled by the lack of ordainment outside this fine small hotel. Once inside, the hotel is more museum than hotel with antique furnishings, artifacts, books and photos throughout. It really is like stepping back in time. The hotel is a converted home dating back to the late 19th century and is full of its own colorful history as are the buildings and city of Merida that surround it.

The focal point of the hotel is situated directly behind the front desk and service locale where you will find a lush garden and “grotto” like pool with a Jacuzzi. This area always stays pleasant and cool due to the shade of the gardens and secluded location, a splendid place to cool off anytime and very romantic. We went for a swim to cool off before bed one night and the burning scent of copal was a nice affect (this is a indigenous herb and incense well known for its cleansing properties). This area with the trees and plants almost reminds you of being in a jungle cenote except there are stairs and balconies just about everywhere you look. There is even an elevated walkway that connects one of the top sections of the inn. Here are patios, landings and secret garden nooks everywhere; the place begs to be explored.

Our room was wonderful with very high ceilings and quite clean with a comfortable king sized bed, extra pillows, ceiling fan and AC, though we only used the AC for a few hours at night, the ceiling fan was great for air circulation. The furnishings, like everything else we saw while we were there were classic, antique couches, chairs, dressers, bed and wardrobes, really nice touches. Our room also had eclectic tiled floors. I honestly don’t know the actual name of our room, but each one has its own unique appeal with similar furnishings from what we could see.

Our only disappointment was missing a great breakfast! We got up very early…too early for breakfast apparently as we looked around and didn’t see anyone (this was around 7am) so we walked a few blocks to one of the local cafes. Upon our return to the hotel one of the waiters stopped by our room asking if we wanted breakfast. We’ll definitely catch that on our next visit! We will be back to Merida in search of more interesting sites, sounds and flavors and recommend this hotel to anyone, as it is truly a magical place.

Stonewall, Texas offers a peachy, smooth weekend. Known as the Peach Capital of Texas, Stonewall, Texas is notorious for its excellent wines and mouth watering peach jams. Stonewall is also the birth place to President Lyndon B. Johnson. In Stonewall, Texas, its prominent streets, parks and landmarks are marked with history and copious agricultural goods.

For a pleasant vacation rental, The Homestead Bed and Breakfast at Becker Vinyards will deliver the Texas charm you are in the market for and delight your taste buds with their palatable wines and scrumptious foods. Richard and Bunny Becker have renovated the Peese log cabin and the d?cor is rustic and accented with antiques. In the living room, there is a charming wooden couch and a potbelly stove. There are two staircases, one inside and one outside the cabin, to the roof space, where a comfy queen size bed sits. As an added exceptional touch to this bed and breakfast, Richard and Bunny have planted a lavender field, where the aromas infuse the atmosphere and provide a stunning purple view.

Another wonderful bed and breakfast rental is The Villa on Grape Creek Vinyards. Newly renovated, this bed and breakfast provides a more contemporary feel with a wonderful view of Grape Creek. Take a saunter through the vineyard, visit their tasting room and the winery, and enjoy the tastes and aromas of the area. A few other suggested places to visit are the Rose Hill Manor, Inn on Grape Creek, Sleepy Cat Inn, and the LBJ Ranch Guest House or The Italian Place.

Newly picked peaches and peach jams are continually available at Burg?s Corner. Located at 15194 US Hwy 290 East in Stonewall, Texas, Burg?s Corner is a charming store full of newly picked chosen peaches, candles, jams, and other mouth watering items to take home to your bed and breakfast or as a magnificent gift. Gold Orchards, Inc. and Vogel Orchard are two additional distinguished places to visit to amble through the fields and acquire more impressive produce. During the summer month of June, the yearly Peach JAMboree and Rodeo is a local event that hosts a parade, crowning of the Peach Queen, a rodeo and other activities.

Guided tours of the Lyndon B. Johnson Park can start off with a short walk to The Boyhood Home, or a walk along trails to old log homes and old west antiques, and end perhaps with a 25 minute tour of the Texas White House. Most of the events and attractions at Stonewall, Texas are centered on the unbelievable life story of President Johnson as well as the exquisite winery it offers.

Stonewall, Texas is located on the Pedernales River, thirteen miles east of Fredericksburg in southeastern Gillespie County. Coming from the east, Stonewall is on U.S. 290 west of Austin. Next to numerous landmarks and parks, Stonewall is a lovely place to visit with plenty of great vacation rentals, dining establishments, site seeing and other great out door activities. It?s always peach season in Stonewall, so come hungry and leave satisfied.

Davenport, Florida is a quaint town of 2,000 people in rural central Florida. The town has an Old Florida feel, as relaxed as the breezes that sway the Spanish moss. A visitor would never know that just half an hour to the northeast, the sprawling metropolis of Orlando and the world class attractions of Walt Disney World Resort are waiting to be explored.

Davenport is located on US Highway 17/92 in Polk County, southwest of Orlando. Davenport is divided into the old city, which is very small, and the greater Davenport area which began to experience quick growth with the housing boom. The city itself has almost no commercial business, but the surrounding area supports several restaurants, a hotel, and some shops. Davenport gives visitors a glimpse into what life was like in central Florida before the growth explosion of the city of Orlando and other urban centers.

For the golfing enthusiast, Davenport features the Ridgewood Golf Club, voted among Floridas best 30 courses. The course was designed by Ted McAnlis and has a unprecedented reputation. The organization offers Champions Turf greens, new bunkers, leveled tee boxes and the sort of luxuriant landscaping that golfers in Florida have come to expect. Fairways are subterranean jade and framed by gleaming white sand bunkers. The strategically positioned hazards provide excitement to your round, while par 4 and par 5 holes have generous tee shot landing areas.

For something slightly different is the Highlands Reserve Golf Resort just north of Davenport. This course sits atop one of the highest spots in Florida and affords golfers with exceptional surroundings. The course was designed by Mike Dasher and provides open and spacious fairways similar to those within the Scottish highlands. Old Florida citrus trees enhance the edges of the course and scattered pines are harking back to courses in the Carolinas. The greens are considerable and quick, and make the course difficult for all ability ranges.

Davenport may be small, however it is a simple country drive to the outer edge of Orlando, the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney vacation rentals, and then the world is your oyster. World class shopping, dining, and leisure are all just minutes from Davenport.

If you and your family are considering a trip to Orlando, chances are, you’re thinking of Disney. What began in 1971 as the east coast version of Californias Disney Land and Magic Kingdom has become the largest and most visited holiday destination in the world. With four separate parks and their many environs, two water parks, and even a working film studio, Disney World has become something that every family should see.

Orlando also hosts Universal Studios theme park and its several associated areas, including Islands of Adventure and the dining and entertainment pavilion “CityWalk”, which is free to enter. The CityWalk includes many restaurants, shops, and even a 20 screen Cineplex with IMAX.

After a busy day in the Florida sun, a short drive has you and your family back to the quiet calm of Davenport, an oasis in the bustle of your Florida holiday.
