So Much To Do In One Fabulous State

Along the Golf Coast, there are many places that you can enjoy the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, on of the best places to visit the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico is in Florida. Florida is a peninsula that goes around the entire peninsula. Although many of the beaches in Florida are perfect for a beach vacation, the Island Keys is not ones of these places. Thanks to the beautiful climate and water the Keys is perfect for a vacation filled with water sports, but not much more than that.

While in Florida you will want to go to the southern most point and visit the Hemingway house. At the Hemingway house you will get to watch some odd six toes cats wondering on the premise. On the Atlantic side of the state you should visit the fabulous and famous Miami Beach. Venture further north and visit Cocoa Beach and its famous Ron Jon store that is open 24/7. Although Cocoa Beach is a tourist destination it is still a great place to visit whether you are looking to lay in the sun or surf.

Although the beaches are great, Florida also has many other great attractions. To start with you have Disney and other themed parks located in or around the Orlando area. On the east coast you can visit Daytona Beach then across the state along the Gulf of Mexico coast is Tampa and Clearwater. Both are great places for families, couples and friends.

While in Tampa you will find that it is a fun city with much to do. There is fine dining, sporting events and theme parks, such as Busch Gardens. Just a short ride across the bridge you can visit the Clearwater/St. Pete area. This area has some of the best beaches in Florida with lots of fun and night life.

Just south of St. Pete is Sarasota and Ft. Myers. In these areas you can find many great seafood restaurants and fine arts. A great place to visit in this area is the Ringling Museum which houses some of the greatest artwork anywhere. There are so many wonderful places in Florida to visit that you may want to rent a car and spend a week or two just traveling around visiting each and everyone of them.

How To Save Money On Airfare, Hotels And Car Rental

Do not just cross your fingers and hope for the best, when it comes to finding a good travel deal. Instead do a lot of research, so you are sure to get value for your hard-earned money when going on vacation.

The more time you book in advance, the more time you have to keep a close eye on hotel prices and airfare; and make exchanges wherever applicable. If you’ve been searching for a long time now, and you see something that looks like a good deal, it probably is.

Try to look online for various travel deals. Booking online is probably one of the most cost-cutting and valuable methods of making reservations somewhere. Simply checking websites that claim the lowest prices isn’t enough anymore. Compare prices everywhere in order to get a good travel deal.

If you’re a generally a spur-of-the-moment type person, always be sure to check for last minute deals on flights that still have empty seats a few hours before boarding. This could cut costs by a lot since airlines want your business.

When you find a vacation that looks like a good deal always check that taxes and all applicable fees are included. If they aren’t it can cost you a lot of extra money; and make the deal not that good.

When you are looking for a hotel or an airfare do not just take the first rate that you are offered. Ask if there are special rates for senior, corporate or military (or something else that you might qualify for).

You can get a better travel deal, if you are selecting a hotel outside the city you are visiting. Do also ask if it is possible to get a free upgrade for a better room. Often it is possible if the room is vacant.

Getting a great travel deal on a rental car is easy if you ask for upgrades. Generally, it’s less expensive to rent using the online service rather than walking in and renting a full week is often cheaper than a daily rate. Don’t forget to add taxes to whatever rate you’re being offered.

Check the auto-insurance agent if you are covered if you are involved in an accident with your rental care. Also make notes of any stains, scratches, dents and or other damages before leaving the lot. You shall not pay for someone else’s carelessness.

A final good travel deal tip is to try walking from your hotel or hostel to a local restaurant. This will eliminate cab costs and will make you feel better gaining some fresh air and being able to take in all of the local scenery.

Beijing Hotels and the Two Towers: Of Modernity and History

Beijing, China’s political capital, houses many interesting man-made structures which either served as fortresses against invaders or as welcoming halls for various guests from all around the world. The “Son of Heaven,” or the emperor, was the playmaker and the helmsman of the country. It was through him that the country continues to run its course.

At present, we could see a number of Beijing hotels standing alongside these man-made marvels. These structures are testaments on how old world charm harmoniously blends with new-age improvements. Truly, we should understand our past for us to fulfill our future. The country’s image as an emerging power in the world stage was due to the efforts of great Chinese men in the past.

We remind you not to miss these wonderful sights if you are checked in at the wonderful Beijing hotels. Since the Great Wall of China has already been known the world over, then you should visit other sites such as the Drum and Bell towers.

The drum tower, also known as the Gulou, is situated at the northern end of the central axis of the Inner City. First built for musical reasons and as a clock, it is now a tourist attraction. The structure is made of wood and is two storeys high. Only one out of the 24 drums can still be seen until now.

The bell tower, in Chinese terms, called Zhonglou, is very proximal to the drum tower. It stands 33 meters adorned with gray walls and a green glazed roof. Since they were the tallest structures in the city before, the people can see the amazing landscape without obstructions.

The Drum tower was built during the reign of Kublai Khan in 1272. The building was reconstructed to the east of the original site in 1420, and extensive renovations were carried out in 1800. The Bell and Drum towers were finally opened to tourists more than a century later, in the 1980s.

Musical instruments such as bells and drums were later used to tell time in ancient China. They also served as watches for both officials and commoners alike. These two towers held significant roles in telling the time during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. An interesting fact is that until now, you can still hear the rings of these ancient timepieces. In this modern age, people who stay in Beijing hotels or in their respective homes have already wristwatches which help them perform their tasks throughout the day.

These two important landmarks are important pieces in the history of Beijing. This gives fact to the saying that time is really precious. So what are you waiting for? Reserve your grand rooms in any of the Beijing hotels and get ready to marvel the sights and sounds of this fascinating city.

When you go to the rental company to get pick up your reserved car, ask about an upgrade. Most times they will upgrade for a small amount of money, as the car will only be sitting in the lot and they would be making no money on it otherwise. This is the best way to get a luxury car at a mid sized price.

Cheap flights are easy to get now through Expedia.com. International flights can get to be expensive, but with the right company, like Expedia, you can get amazing deals.

Best Family Vacation Ideas

When you are deciding on where to go this year for your family vacation, it can be a very difficult, long and time consuming task. For parents they may want to visit a destination that is relaxing and romantic, however their children have other ideas. Many hear that Las Vegas is the perfect destination for a family vacation, but you have never been more misinformed. In fact, Las Vegas is the least family friendly place to visit and should be avoided when you are traveling with children.

So what does that leave, if you can’t go somewhere relaxing, romantic or to Las Vegas, where do you take the family? Well, there are plenty of places. Let’s assume that going overseas is not an option, for simplicity’s sake. For people who already live near the ocean, the mountains can be more of a draw. The Smokey Mountains for the eastern US and the Rockies for the west are great destinations. California even has its own range for people that live there. Spending a week in the mountains or at the beach can be a great vacation and there are so many things to do from skiing, water or snow, swimming, hiking and biking, to scuba diving and camping.

For people who want a little more structure and want all of their vacation in an easy to open container, a theme park or a cruise is a great option. These all inclusive vacations are easy to plan and easy to keep the agenda straight. You know exactly where you are going to be each day and you even know when and where you will eat dinner each night. It can take some of the stress out of a vacation, which is supposed to be relaxing to begin with.

Beijing Hotels as seen from the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong

Since time immemorial, Beijing has been home to some of the country’s most prominent figures, from heads of state to entertainers. These people have succeeded in turning this once rigid city into a more open and versatile metropolis that is always open to the changes that each year brings.

When tourists come to the city, they realize that a number of Beijing hotels are located within a few minutes’ walk or ride from famous tourist spots and shopping havens.

Most of the tourists, however, come to Beijing to experience the local sights and sounds that the city can offer. One of the famous landmarks in the city is the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. He was the Chairman of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China from 1943 and the chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China from 1945 until his death.

Close to a number of fabulous hotels in Beijing and strategically located right in the middle of the Tiananmen Square, the Mausoleum stands on what was once the Gate of China. It was the southern gate of the Imperial City during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

The construction of the mausoleum was done shortly after Chairman Mao’s death. Hua Guofeng supervised the mausoleum project and has his handwriting on the mausoleum’s sign. Based on an issue of China Pictorial, the Chinese people designed and built the mausoleum. As a matter of fact, materials from all over the country were used, like granite from Sichuan Province, color pebbles from Nanjing, porcelain plates from Guangdong Province, and even rock samples from Mount Everest. The sand and rocks were also taken from the Taiwan Strait which showed China’s dominance over the island. Interestingly, a mass of 700,000 people voluntarily helped to make the mausoleum.

Mao was famously known as the Great Helmsman. Inside the structure, his remains are on display for public viewing. He is enclosed in a crystal coffin fitted with Xenon lamps using the latest in fiber-optic technology. This gives a more life-like and a clearer visualization of Mao’s skin.

The locals and guests who are staying at various Beijing hotels line up for hundreds of meters for them to visit this prominent Chinese individual. Many locals pay tribute to him by offering flowers which can be rented at the north entrance. You can also buy souvenirs at the shop located at the south gate.

Truly, Mao Zedong still remains as an important person to the Chinese people. A better way to know more about their culture is by visiting this important landmark in the city. Going to this place is never a problem since majority of the hotels in Beijing can be located within a few minutes of the area. So come now and experience many wonders that China can show you!

They give you a glimpse of the city’s wonderful history, specifically its relations to the outside world during the dynastic era.

The Lugou Bridge, which is also called the Marco Polo Bridge, is situated 15 kilometers southwest of the city center across the Yongding River. Located at the city’s Fengtai District, you can readily see a number of Beijing hotels in the area.

The bridge is very famous since it was given positive views by the Venetian traveler Marco Polo during his visit to China in the 13th century and for the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, which started the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945). In his journal, Marco Polo described the bridge as “a very fine stone bridge, so fine indeed, that it has very few equals in the world.” It is considered an architectural breakthrough since it was made from solid granite.

You can see hundreds of artistically unique stone lions from different eras that line both sides as you cross the bridge. What is more amazing about these creatures is that there are more lions hiding on the back, head, or under the belly or on the paws of each of the big lions.

At the end of the bridge, you will see the Wanping Fortress. Also known as the Wanping Castle, it was built to defend the city against Li Zicheng and the peasant uprising during the Ming Dynasty. The Majestic Gate on the east and the Favorably Govern Gate on the west are the two gates of the fortress.

The Lugou Bridge and the Wanping Fortress are truly architectural masterpieces of ancient China. That is why when you stay in any of the hotels in Beijing, we encourage you not to miss these sites for they will teach you more about the life and times of the ancient Chinese.
