Dollywood is a theme park that offers all the regular stuff that you would expect at a theme park, thrill rides, food, a cool area for kids to play, but it offers something that most don’t, down home friendly people who work there. Everyone that works there, from the people who run the rides, to the people who run the booths and drive the trams, everybody is really nice. Not fake nice like in the big city, but nice because they want to be. It is not a large park, but there are some really fun rides, but the real attraction are the people and the fun.

Beijing has experienced several rebellions throughout her history. Among these, a significant uprising led to the collapse of the Dynastic era and the eventual rise of the People’s Republic. Some monuments have been made to remember the importance and the virtues of those people who fought for Chinese freedom. Undeniably, the Monument to the People’s Heroes is one of the most visited since it can be found in a few minutes’ walk from some of the hotels in Beijing. This obelisk stands ten-storeys high and was built in memory of the martyrs who offered their lives for the revolutionary struggles of the Chinese people during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The monument was designed by architect Liang Sicheng, with some elements designed by his wife, Lin Huiyin. It stands about 37.94 meters and covers an area of 32,000 square feet. It is specifically located at the southern edge of the Tiananmen Square.
17,000 pieces of granite and marble were taken from the provinces of Qingdao and Shandong and from Fangshan District just to construct this 10,000 metric ton obelisk.
Eight large bas relieves can be seen on the tablet’s pedestal, depicting scenes from the revolution. They can be read clockwise from the east. Some of these include the burning of opium in the Opium War in 1840, the Jintian Village Uprising in the Taiping Revolution in 1851 and crossing the Yangtze River Campaign, or Successful Crossing of the Yangtze River in 1949.
On the front of the monument, you can readily see an inscription in Mao Zedong’s handwriting, which reads “Eternal glory to the people’s heroes!” On the back, there is a message which was drafted by Mao Zedong and written by Zhou Enlai, which also revered the efforts of the heroes of the past.
The Monument to the People’s Heroes is truly a sight to behold, especially for tourists who are staying in different Beijing hotels. They should not miss this chance because the monument is a symbol of national pride for the Chinese. Traveling to this place from many Beijing hotels can be done within minutes since transportation is readily accessible. Taking A Trip Along The East Coast

Although many tend to lean towards Florida, when they are going on an east coast vacation, there is much more to the east coast then this one state.
Instead of Florida, lets work out way up the Coast. The first stop will be Georgia. Georgia not only has some fabulous beaches, but it also is home to the large city of Atlanta. While visiting Atlanta you should try to take in a sporting event, since they have a professional team in all the major pro leagues. If you want to visit a smaller, and quaint little town then you should head to Savannah and get a true sense of southern charm.
South Carolina and North Carolina have great beaches as well. They also have the mountains as well. From the outer banks to the Blue Ridge Mountains, North and South Carolina both have tons of things to offer. Both states have small and large towns and the people make everybody feel welcome.
If these things aren’t enough, keep moving up the coast and I am sure you will find even more great things to do. Virginia is the next stop and has plenty of things to offer a traveler or vacationer. It also puts you really close to our nations capital, Washington D.C. With all the monuments and museums in D.C., it could take a normal person weeks just to see every exhibit in the Smithsonian.
Then of course there is always New York. New York has many wonderful areas to visit and some small towns, but the main New York attraction is New Your City, a.k.a Manhattan. While staying in Manhattan you can take in a Broadway show, get ticket to see the Late night shows on television, visit Rockefella Center and much more more. NYC is the city that never sleeps so you will be able to find entertainment, food and fun no matter what time of the day or night.
