The name of the small village Grintsing was first mention in the annals in 1114. For its small size, however, the town has an enviable rich history – in 1529 was destroyed by the Turks and only rebuilt. In 1604 the village was devastated by fire. In 1683 the Turks again razed it profoundly, and in 1809 the same thing was made by the French army.
Nothing, nevertheless, didn’t stop the natural course of time. People of the Grintsing continued to construct their houses and planted plenty of vineyards. And this is what helps make Grintsing stand out – the wine. Anyone can purchase a square meter of vines and make a fascinating wine. Among the list of those who own vineyards in the region are the Pope, Dalai Lama, Sophia Loren and Jimmy Carter.
In 1784, Kaiser Joseph II gives the Viennese wine producers the privilege to market their products without a trade or business license up to 300 days a year. This rule is vivid and today. Grintsing owns more than 720 acres of vines. Nowadays, Grintsing is part of Vienna, located in the region of Dyobling and is known for its Heuriger – wineries, serving fine wines from local harvests, especially popular new wine in the region. You can taste these wines and pair them with local delicacies for example Bratlfettn-Brot (bread with fried meat) and traditional live music.

Kaasgrabenkirche, Roman style church is a landmark that every visitor of Grintsing should see. The temple was built in 1903. The name of Kaasgrabenkirche,as the temple is called, and the area in which it is built probably comes from Kasewasser, water with a color like cheese, but the explanation is the presence of mineral springs in the area with water full of iron and sulfur. The building was built in neo-baroque style and the walls inside are decorated with stone reliefs. Based on the legend, a young woman was picking berries in the woods with her children, when she heard the arrival of the Turkish troops. This happens during the second siege of Vienna in 1683. The woman took cover in the bushes, but the soldiers followed her steps and found her and her children. Then Virgin Mary appeared and saved the woman and her children from the Turks. In gratitude, the woman made small donation which laid down the foundation of the church.
