Located in the west central part of the state, Tuscaloosa is the fifth largest city in Alabama. Tuscaloosa, Alabama is famous for being the home of the University of Alabama. It is a hub for industry, commerce, healthcare, and education for the western half of the state.

There is no shortage of recreational activities in the area. Back in’70, a 5,855 acre reservoir lake was formed by building a dam over the North River. The main purpose of the project was to keep up with the demand for water from Tuscaloosa’s rising population.

Before the creation of the new reservoir, the region used Lake Nicol and Harris Lake as the regions water source for both residential and industrial purposes. Presently, Harris Lake only serves industrial needs and Lake Nicol is used primarily as a backup water supply.

Since the completion of the reservoir, Lake Tuscaloosa has become a recreational haven for activities such as boating, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing and swimming. With all this booming recreational activity came the desire for residents to build lakefront homes.

There are 177 miles of shoreline that meanders around Lake Tuscaloosa. Black Water River Basin has become a hot spot for fishermen. The lake has many species of fish including Alabama spotted bass, largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, and white crappie.

Legacy Point is a 55 acre private community that offers six Craftsmen inspired three or four bedroom homes with stone and cedar shingle exteriors, large porches and decks that provide great lake views. These homes have between 1,800 to 3,600 square feet and are priced around $450,000 and up. Lake view or lakefront home sites are priced from $180,000 to $270,000.
