Any body have any ideas for cheap vacations in New Jersey?
We have allready have gone to NYC and done everything there. We are looking for something different to do for the summer. We live in the northwest part of new jersey in morris county and are willing to drive to pennsylvania. We will be taken kids ages 9, 10, and 13.
I’m not too far from you, I’m in Hunterdon County! There’s always down the shore, but it’s pretty expensive! You can check out http://www.newjerseyshore.com for some ideas though. I don’t know if you like camping, but there are a lot of state parks in new jersey and most of them have campgrounds, some have full cabins to rent and they are very cheap! Check out the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection website and go to parks and then click on camping.
I have friends who have taken their kids over to PA to Shawnee Mountain, they have a huge water park. If you go to http://shawneemt.com you get info on that, where to stay and what’s going on there on different dates. Also, check out http://www.visitpa.com for more ideas of vacations across the river. Good luck and have fun!
I don’t know how much money you’re talking about, but when we lived in NJ, we went to the shore almost every year. We stayed in Ocean Beach 3. The small cottages in between the highways are pretty cheap and you can walk to the ocean or drive to the bay swimming area. The Point Pleasant boardwalk isn’t far from there. I live in Florida now and would rather go to the NJ shore in the summer. We have such great memories of it.
One summer we drove to Gettysburg and spent a few days there. There are quite a few inexpensive motels with pools.

What you live in Morris County and haven’t been to the Water Gap yet? Seriously though the shore’s not a bad place and it’s not that expensive(ok as long as it’s not a weekend, but still) I’m originally from Morris County myself(Budd Lake), and we used to do Pt Pleasant, Seaside, and Island Beach State Park (haven’t been to Island Beach in a long time but it was $6 a car load, but it closed if the parking lots were full), which was funny because after we moved down that way we could never get there before the lots closed.
