Cheap Caribbean Vacations: Checklist

It’s been a tiring year (what year isn’t!) and you’re looking to get some R&R before having to take on adult responsibilities again. So you’ve decided to search through some cheap Caribbean vacations to see if anything comes up that suits your tastes.

The Caribbean is made up of a good amount of islands such as The Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, St. Martin, Aruba, Bahamas, etc. Not all islands are known for the same types of settings and activities. Aruba for instance, though it does not supply the lushness and tropical island feeling as a Hawaii would, it does provide comfy weather, above average shopping, good-natured folks, and casinos if that’s your thing. For other casino hot spots, consider Antigua.

The U.S. Virgin Islands may be ideal for a romantic getaway if you’re planning on traveling with a significant other. St. Johns particularly is an excellent place to simply wine and dine under the sun in serene calm and relaxation.

Also whichever island you decie to go on, be certain to keep tabs on hurricane season and if the island you are interested in is in the hurricane belt of islands. All the aforementioned was just the tip of the iceberg.

There is so much to do in the Caribbean that it’s not even funny. You can go on a multitude of cruises, go on a golfing retreat, go vacationing, jet skiing, etc. Pretty much anything and everything you want out of rest and relaxation- you can attain with an inexpensive Caribbean escape if you conduct some thorough research.

Coach Holidays Are Better Than You Think

When you mention a coach holiday to most people they imagine an old out of date bus filled with people looking for a low-cost budget holiday. This is the complete opposite to what a proper coach holiday is like nowadays.

A lot of coach firms have a fortune on new modern coaches that provide travelers a level of comfort that they are not expecting. The new modern coaches have toilet facilities as well as entertainment and drinks.

The choice of destinations and itineraries has also developed to offer tourists with a more sophisticated vacation. Today individuals are expecting for more than just a bus drive to somewhere interesting and modern coach vacations can provide it.

If you are planning to go on a coach vacation have a look at a map to help you think of some of the sites you might want to see. Write a few destinations down and then look for a desirable coach holiday itinerary. Not all coach companies are the same and the costs will reflect this.

When you find a few holidays you like, make sure you compare the grade of hotels you will be staying in. One firm may use two and 3 star lodgings while the other may use three and 4 star ones. There is normally a good reason why one coach company has lower prices than another.

Another thing to look out for is any extras that may be included in the price of your coach holiday. Some companies offer free sightseeing excursions at some stopover points. This could save you a lot of money if you were to book a local tour in each location.

Coach holidays are a great way to get to popular events such as sports events or to see a best selling band or singer. Sometimes these companies sell trips to sold out events and this can be not only an ideal way to get in but also a handy way to get there.

There are many types of coach vacation and if you take a moment to compare a few you are more likely to save some money but also get the right vacation as well.

A coach holiday is a great way to see and visit new places and Gold Crest Holidays offer them at great prices. Find out more about your perfect coach holiday with advice from travel writer Archie Divers.

The Benefits Of A Coach Holiday

A great way to see a new place is by going on a coach holiday. Coach tours offer you the chance to go and visit places of interest that without an automobile you would otherwise not be able to get to easily. If you think about any attractions near where you live and how accessible they could be if you were unable to use your car, you would probably not bother traveling to see them.

Coach tours are ideal for getting the most out of a vacation location. You have the benefit of being able to get to sites of interest without having to drive there yourself. You will not get lost when your satellite navigation sends you the wrong route, this could be very stressful. This is not something you would desire to happen with whilst you are on vacation. Coach drivers and guides generally tend to know about the better places to see and have localized knowledge about the area you would otherwise miss in a tourist guide book.

Coach holidays operate all over the planet and can be for a quick break or for a specific event. They can get you sites easily and more economically than you could probably do on your own. You can get a coach tour to a town or city for a specific event or just for a family day out. Coach holidays operate to Alton Towers, London and the south coast of England or even around the West coast of the United States, the options are limitless.

You do not have to concern yourself about looking for a car park as this is taken care for you. An other excellent benefit offered by some coach tour companies is a special door to door baggage service. Each time the coach tour stops for an overnight break you would get your baggage delivered to your room and collected the next morning and placed back on the coach. For anyone who likes to have a few drinks they can, conscious that somebody else has the driving covered for them.

When looking for a coach holiday look around to make sure you get the best deals but make sure you carefully look at the routes. There may be a few better locations on one trip as against another. Another thing to check is the standard of the accommodation you will be staying in.

When looking for a coach holiday it is important to get the right one. Shearings Coach Holidays have a great selection of tours, find out which one to choose with advice from travel writer Scot Anderson

What to Look for When Living in a Hotel

For one reason or another, you may find yourself living in a hotel for some time. For some, this is a permanent arrangement, as they are more comfortable in a temporary space, while others are there for only a month or two, while they find a house to purchase or while their home is being repaired, etc. The important thing is to find a place that works for you and is comfortable.

The Neighborhood The first thing to consider is where you’ll be living. Many live-in hotels have a bad reputation for being in the wrong part of town. If you’re new to town, take a look around before committing to one place. Choose a hotel that is in a decent area, where you won’t be afraid to look out the window at night.

You will also want to be near local transport such as the subway, if you don’t have a vehicle. Proximity to supermarkets, a place to do laundry and other conveniences is also a good idea. Some hotels may even provide a laundry room on site.

Choosing the Room Since you’ll be living in the one room or suite for a while, it’s a good idea to choose one that is comfortable, doesn’t have odd smells and which you feel comfortable in. Most people don’t need too much space, but it’s a good idea to have a dresser or closet to store your clothing. If you wish to cook, then look for a room that has a kitchenette where you can prepare your own meals, preferably with the basics, pots, pans, dishes, etc. already available. Some rooms will offer a table or desk where you can work, as well.

For anyone who is moving into a hotel with children, a suite with a separate room for the kids can be a huge blessing. You’ll be able to get them down at a decent hour and still enjoy some television or hanging out with your significant other or friends.

Pricing Your best bet when it comes to renting a hotel is to look for a short term rental option. Hotels that offer this will give you a better deal for staying a week, a month, or longer. This is often a considerable discount on the nightly price, so it’s worth looking into. Also, hotels that offer these rates are comfortable with having longer term guests and probably already have some. You will be able to talk to other residents and get a feel for the place.

Many people find that short term rentals are ideal for those shorter stays. Whatever your reason for needing a place to stay for a month or two, you can also opt to rent a house or furnished apartment for such a short length of time.

Destinations for your Next Family Vacation Getaway

When planning a family vacation getaway, the choices can be overwhelming. What should you do? Where should you go? To make life easier, these questions should be answered before you start planning. Let’s take a few minutes and help you answer these questions before you get started with the planning.

What Should You Do?
How does skiing fresh powder of Vail’s Blue Sky Basin, or relaxing in the white sand of Hawaii’s beaches and hitting a hole in one at one of Myrtle Beach’s many golf courses sound to you? Ski, beach and golf vacations are great choices for families.

Skiing Vacations
Many resorts offer a plethora of activities for you and your family. While you are skiing fresh powder, your children can be supervised by a certified ski instructor while enrolled in ski school. After that lesson, you can meet up with them and they will be happy to show you what they learned. When the day ends, be sure to explore the town. Ski towns are notorious for some of the best shopping and fine dining. If you want to take a day off from skiing to catch your breath, try ice skating, toboggan runs or just sit by a fire with a good book. When it comes time to plan a ski vacation, try to plan at least 5 to 6 months ahead of time. This is when you can find the best deals and you shouldn’t have to worry about the hotel you want to stay in, completely booked. I have found that a little research goes a long way. After you choose your hotel, see if they have any packages or specials available. Most of the time hotels and resorts will offer a bit of a discount on lift tickets and other activities. If a special or package is not available, make sure to buy your lift tickets in bulk to save some money. Try to buy a 3 or 4 day pass versus buying individual tickets each day. Often times, these lift tickets will be good for more than 1 resort in the area.

Ski Vacation Destinations.
The Rocky Mountains of Colorado offer many good resorts to choose from. Some favorites include Telluride, Vail and Breckenridge. Telluride Ski Resort was built in the 1970′s and along with it came cultural events, festivals, music and more. People come to this town year after year for the wonderful skiing and other fun activities.
If skiing is what you are all about, Vail is the place to go! It has just been named number 1 for the 14th time in 19 years in Ski Magazines “Top 50 Resort Guide”. Vail offers world class skiing, fabulous nightlife and many fine dining options.
Breckenridge is a 147 year old Victorian town. People flocked to this town in the 1800′s in search of riches in the form of gold. Now this town is a haven for skiers of all types. This town offers many activities for families and travelers.

Beach Vacations
Beach resorts can be perfect for your next family vacation getaway. Some of the best resorts are in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Hawaii.

Mexico
Los Cabos is one of Mexico’s most popular vacation destinations. It is located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Los Cabos features luxury hotels, championship golf courses and some of the best sport fishing in the world. Other activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking and much more.

The Caribbean
The Cayman Islands offer many things for many people. 99% of the travelers visit Grand Cayman Island. It is easy to see why people go here. Of the islands this island offers the most when it comes to resorts and hotels. The fabulous snorkeling and scuba diving is not to be missed. When diving, you will think you are in a pet shop aquarium. The fish are abundant and the stingrays are gentle and fun to watch. If time permits, rent a Jeep and cruise around the Island.

Hawaii
Hawaii offers many choices for the traveling family. Each island is unique and offers something for everyone. Kauai is less touristy but still offers much to do. The surfing and snorkeling are not to be missed. Be sure to take a day and drive up to Waimea Canyon. This canyon offers many photo opportunities, and spots to get out and hike near beautiful waterfalls. Maui offers white sand beaches perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. Maui also offers great sightseeing and wonderful shopping. Of the islands, Hawaii, also known as “The Big Island” is the largest. Here you can visit the only active volcanoes of the Hawaiian Islands. You will also find wonderful resorts, pristine beaches, great nightlife, fine dining and shopping.

Golf Vacations
Right about now, you may be thinking “How can a golf vacation be good for my whole family?” Well, many golf resorts offer more than just golf. While you are out hitting the lynx, your family can be enjoying a beach, pool, or shopping. When you are done on the course you can meet up and head to one of the many fine dining establishments near your resort. Many golf vacations can be combined with a beach getaway. Mexico, Hawaii and the United States offer some of the best golf near some of the best beaches. These resorts offer many different specials and packages that can be tailored to fit your specific wishes.

Whatever your next vacation entails for you, you will not be disappointed with any one of the recommendations above. Be sure to see all you can see. The bottom line is to enjoy yourself and relax!

The Vacation Deals Emails – Should You Answer Them?

If you’ve got an email address, chances are high that you’ve received emails that tell you that you can get a great vacation deal if you “just act now”! Often you’ll receive phone calls that are the same, asking if you want a vacation deal. Should you take the time to answer these emails and these phone calls about vacation deals, or should you avoid them entirely?

What the Emails Say

Some emails promise vacation deals that will astound and amaze you. One of the classic vacation deals is to book a vacation for you now and to get another vacation deal for a dollar or less. While this sounds great, you really need to check into the deal first. Often vacation deals like this charge you double or triple the price for the original deal making you pay more than you should, thereby saving you absolutely no money at all.

Other vacation deals that you receive by email say that you can save tons of money if you just book your deal early, and if you book your vacation deal through clicking on a link. While it is true that you can get a good vacation deal by booking early, it is also true that many of the links that you will click on bring you to an affiliate link, which actually charge you a percentage of whatever you’re booking, or a solid booking fee, before it allows you to book your vacation deal. This isn’t really a deal, as you’re getting charged to book the deal in the first place.

Other emails for vacation deals promise that you can go on a Caribbean cruise for nothing, and say that you’ve won a prize, giving you a great vacation deal. These emails can be one of two things – either they’re an affiliate link trying to trick you into going through their site, and making you pay outrageous fees in order to get your “prize”, thereby paying for the price of the ticket, or they’re a scam.

Scam Emails

There are tons of scam emails that come through your email any day of the week, and many of them trick you by promising you a vacation deal that looks too good to be true. If the vacation deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. These vacation deals that are promised aren’t real, and are merely a trick in order to get you to give out your credit card information to nefarious people. People have been scammed thousands of dollars through these types of email scams, never to see the money again.

It is a good idea to avoid any emails that come into your possession that promise a vacation deal that you can’t ignore. These vacation deals should be deleted quickly, as most of them are not honest vacation deals but are designed to scam you into spending money that you shouldn’t spend. The only vacation deals that you should act on are ones that you, yourself, have found through online deals or through travel agents.

Ski Vacations On the Cheap

Let’s face it; skiing is not one of your more inexpensive hobbies. It’s not like hiking where you can buy a pair of hiking shoes, perhaps a walking stick, and just start hiking a trail. With skiing you have your special clothes, your special equipment, lessons, accommodations, lift tickets, etc. It can get quite pricey. But, you’d be amazed at what a little scaling back or research can save you. What are some of the ways you can cut down on the cost of your ski vacation?

Location

Let’s start with the location. You don’t have to go Aspen. You don’t have to go to Park City. You don’t have to go to Tahoe. If skiing’s what you really want to do, try skiing in your own back yard and save some change. There are numerous lesser-known ski areas in many states that don’t have the bells and whistles or the status attached to them, thus they’re cheaper. And, if you can drive to them you can save yourself costly airfare.

For example, if you live in Southern California, save money by going to one of the fine ski areas within driving distance, such as Mountain High in Wrightwood, just a 90-minute drive from downtown Los Angeles, or just over 2 hours from San Diego. That’s right; you can ski all day in the mountains, and have dinner on the beach. Another close ski area is Mt. Baldy. And that’s just a 45-minute drive from Los Angeles.

Packages

Scour the internet for ski vacation packages that include your lodging, lift tickets, lessons, rentals, and, if possible, some meals.

Meals

Yes, it’s really nice to ski all day and feast at night on filet mignon and a nice bottle of Cabernet. However, if you’re on a budget and you just gotta ski, skip the expensive meal and go for a cheaper diner or fast-food restaurant. You can probably pick up a tasty burger for the cost of the tip at the fancy restaurant. And, if you want an inexpensive bottle of red wine to go with that burger, try picking up a less-expensive bottle of wine at home and bringing it with you.

Lodging

Yes, there’s nothing like a condo at the ski resort where you can practically begin skiing from your back door. But, talk about sticker shock! Lodging at ski resorts can be expensive. Try staying at a hotel or motel a few-minutes-drive away. Or, cheaper yet, consider staying at a ski hostel.

There’s an abundance of hostels across America near popular ski resorts at incredibly low prices. While it’s true many of the rooms are dorm rooms with shared bathrooms, if it’s a cheap ski vacation you want, hostels are the way to go. And, with many hostels, you can have family rooms or private rooms for a few extra dollars.

Hostels allow you to go to the prime ski areas on the cheap. For example, if you want to take a Ski Vacation to Breckenridge in Colorado, but can’t afford the expensive lodging, you can stay in the dormitory at the Fireside Inn Bed & Breakfast (970-453-6456) for only $36 per person. You’re only 5 minutes from the Breckenridge ski area, and 20 minutes to Keystone. And, during ski season, the bus to Breckenridge peaks stops at their front door. Not bad for $36 a night. If dormitory life’s not for you, you can spend $80 for a private room with bunk bed.

How about a ski trip to Taos? You might want to consider the Abominable SnowMansion, a 60-year-old adobe lodge with dorm rooms, private rooms with shared baths and private rooms with private baths. You can have a bunk and a breakfast for only $20 per person or $36 per couple. A private room with a shared bath can be had for only $45 per couple or $33 for a single person, while a private room with private bath goes for $52 per couple or $45 for a single person. You can call them at 505-776-8298 for more information.

These are just two examples of hostels near great ski areas. There’s sure to be one near your favorite ski resort. A quick search of “ski hostels” will reveal many inexpensive lodging choices.

Taking an inexpensive ski vacation often times requires a little thinking and a little sacrifice. But, the experience of skiing down a mountain makes it all worth it.

9 Hot Tips On Making Disney World More Affordable

If you have a plan to visit Disney World and regardless of whether you wish to make this a holiday for you and the kids of a life time or its a regular place to visit, its great when you know how to cut some costs and keep some of that hard earned money in your own pocket. Here are a few tips to help you out.

* Get hold of a Disney Rewards Credit Card. This card offers Disney points for every single purchase you make when using the card. These points can then be redeemed towards your ideal Disney vacation. You can use the points towards Disney merchandise, Disney restaurants, hotels, theme park tickets and more.

* Try to visit off-peak. If you can get there when most of the kids are back to school then not only can you take advantage of cheaper than average prices but you no doubt will save a lot of time too.

* Get hold of an annual pass. An annual pass will help to lower the cost of access to the theme park and also reduces the cost of some theme park rides, so if you are a fairly regular visitor its well worth having one of these.

* Register your birthday on the Disney website. If you register your birthday on the Disney website you are entitled to a free visit to the theme park that you wish, regardless of which state or country you are from. It will be mailed out to you after you register and registration is entirely free.

* Choose to stay in a Disney Land hotel. This may appear to be expensive but when you think about it, you can save upon traveling costs and traveling time too. Disney have their own bus services to your hotel and back and also you can use the monorail and theme park boats – all free to Disney hotel guests. Further, if you book a Disney hotel you can take advantage of extended theme park visiting hours. You will be shuttled too and from your airport too, also free of charge.

* Utilize the Disney camp sites. If you can forgo the luxury of hotel accommodation you can save a ton. You can take your RV or you can pitch a tent. Great fun for all the kids!

* Make your food purchases before you enter the theme park. May seem a bit too much effort but when you consider that even snacks and soft drinks when purchased in the theme park will soon add up to a decent sum of money then it does make sense to make a few purchases at a grocery store before you enter the theme park for the day.

* Have a look at the Disneyland website. Keeping an eye on the website means you will pick up various tips from the experts about good times to visit the theme parks. You can also be fortunate to get some tickets at great discount prices too, just by visiting the website often.

* Become a member of other companies. Other companies such as the AAA offer various Disney discounts if you become a member. This is not an option for all but its worth having a look and seeing what is available through other company schemes.

Check out the Disney credit card. The Disney visa card is a great card all-round so check out just how much it can help you enhance your Disney trip even more!
